The insulated polyester fleece lining keeps those piggies nice and warm. And a heat-reflective insole adds to the winter-friendly comfort. And, yes, you can remove the insole for an even more “barefoot” feeling.

The Alpine has 200g insulation, rated to -32°C/-25°F, so they should keep your feet warm no matter where your adventures take you.

FAQs

Does the Alpine work well with snowshoes?

The answer is YES! The Alpine is a great boot to pair with snowshoes, especially with the zero-drop, FeelTrue® rubber soles for a low centre of gravity. Most snowshoes secure the boots with straps that go over the toes, instep, and around the heel, and will work just fine with the Alpine. And with our 200g insulation, rated to -32°C/-25°F, and the fully seam-sealed, water-resistant inner bootie, your feet should stay warm and toasty while you’re hiking!

What’s the cold weather rating for the Alpine?

Unlike, say, sleeping bags, there’s no accurate temperature rating system for shoes. How a shoe handles the cold (or, rather, how a person handles the cold in a shoe) depends on factors beyond air temperature, including ground temperature, humidity, blood circulation in your feet, foot mobility (the more you move, the warmer you might feel) and, of course, the socks you’re wearing (or not wearing, as the case may be).

The short answer is, the Alpine has 200g insulation, rated to -32°C/-25°F.

With the seam-sealed bootie, heat-reflecting insole, insulated synthetic lining, and lugged sole, we’re giving you a cosy natural movement option for staying warm in the cold.

Super warm, lightweight, cute as heck

So far so good! I have Xero trainers which I love so it was a no brainer when I needed winter boots. These seem to be ever so slightly (we're talking millimeters) narrower across the ball of my foot so my baby toes touch the sides, whereas they don't in my trainers. It worried me, especially if I was going to have to wear thick winter socks, but so far so good. These are super flexible and light so they required no break-in period whatsoever. Laces stay tied with a single knot. VERY warm. Too warm for air/train travel days. The only time they failed me was a day wandering the Christmas market in Helsinki in -20º, but Helsinki isn't my normal cold exposure so I'm good. I'm confident they can handle anything the UK can throw at me.

Not as warm as I was hoping

These are very comfortable, although not as warm as I was hoping. It’s only about freezing here, and my feet [with thick winter alpaca socks] definitely feel chilly after tramping on the common for an hour. Not super cold by any means, but not nice and warm. I’d like them to have been lined throughout with the furry stuff. Definitely waterproof.

Well fitting super comfortable and importantly warm boots

These were my first purchase from Xero and I am super happy with my boots. I have recently returned from my skiing trip where I tested these boots while sledding for several hours. They stayed warm, remained waterproof and allowed me to enjoy sledding to the full. Eying other shoes now. I just wish the selection was as wide as in EU or US.
